Jimmy Fallon will host the 2017 Golden Globes.
NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt made the announcement on Tuesday during the Executive Session of the NBC portion of the Television Critics Association Summer Tour.
Fallon follows Ricky Gervais, who hosted the 2016 Globes. The 2017 Globes will air on Jan. 8, 2017 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT on NBC.

"We’re thrilled to announce Jimmy as host of 'The 74th Annual Golden Globes,'" Greenblatt said in a statement. "This is the most spontaneous and uninhibited award show on television, and Jimmy’s playful, disarming comedic brilliance makes him the ideal host to enhance and elevate the sense of fun and irreverence that’s made the Golden Globes one of the premier events of the entire broadcast year."
Fallon tweeted about his new hosting gig shortly after the news was announced.
"I'm so excited to be hosting The Golden Globes in January," he wrote.
"And I'm really looking forward to spending time with the Hollywood Foreign Press before Donald Trump has them all deported," Fallon added.
In addition, Greenblatt announced on Tuesday that the network is set to celebrate the 90th birthday of legendary entertainer Tony Bennett.
Although his birthday is on August 3, the all-star special, titled, "Tony Bennett Celebrates 90: The Best Is Yet To Come," will tape in September and air on NBC on Dec. 20.
Stars lined up to perform with Bennett include Andrea Bocelli, Michael Bublé, Aretha Franklin, Lady Gaga, Billy Joel, Elton John, Diana Krall, k.d. lang, Rufus Wainwright and Stevie Wonder.
