Empire's Lee Daniels and Brian Grazer are turning their attention to comedy.

The duo have sold a half-hour single-camera entry starring stand-up comedian Ms. Pat to Fox, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The untitled comedy has landed at Fox with a hefty put-pilot commitment and is based on Ms. Pat's stand-up comedy and forthcoming memoir that tells the story of an unlikely suburban mom. Her hustle and entrepreneurial spirit were forged on the mean streets of Atlanta, but she now finds herself in conservative middle America alongside her loving husband and two distinct sets of kids raised under very different circumstances.

Alyson Fouse (Born Again Virgin) will pen the script and exec produce the 20th Century Fox Television comedy alongside Grazer, Lee Daniels, Francie Calfo, Pam Williams and Effie Brown. In addition to starring, Ms. Pat is also on board as a co-EP.

The comedy hails from Imagine Television and Lee Daniels Entertainment, with the latter under a rich overall deal at 20th Television.

The potential series comes as Daniels has the third season of Fox hip-hop drama Empire due in the fall and forthcoming girl-group musical drama Star set for midseason. The prolific producer recently was at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour where he reiterated conversations about a potential spinoff of Empire featuring Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson).
