Amber Heard is donating her entire $7 million settlement from Johnny Depp to two charities, including one for battered women. She’s giving $3.5 million to an arm of the ACLU that defends women who have been battered, and the other $3.5 million to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, where the model and actress has volunteered for a decade.

In a statement finished to Gossip Cop, Heard said that her settlement with Depp was not based on her trying to make money off of him. She said, “Money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves.” Heard, who did not seek any of the ongoing residuals from Depp’s movies that he made during their marriage to which she may have had a claim, simply said she wanted to be able to give generously to both the ACLU and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

About the latter, Heard expressed, “Over the years, I have seen firsthand how more funding for staffing, better equipment and better medication can make the difference between life or death for a child.” “I know these organizations will put the funds to good use and look forward to continuing to support them in the future. Hopefully, this experience results in a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most,” she concluded.

As Gossip Cop reported on Tuesday, Deep and Heard settled their divorce and released a joint statement that read, “Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains. There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm.”

Heard filed for divorce in May, and quickly thereafter received a restraining order against Depp who she accused of domestic abuse during their short 15-month marriage. Just days before their settlement a video emerged of a fight between Deep and Heard that renewed talk about domestic violence. Following their mutual signing off on the settlement agreement, Heard asked that the restraining order against Depp be dismissed.
