Troian Bellisario is clarifying her comments on Taylor Swift, insisting she wasn’t dissing her when she said she was “appalled” by the singer’s “false feminism.”

On Wednesday, Cosmopolitan published online an interview with Bellisario that took place at the Democratic National Convention. Although she was there for political reasons, the “Pretty Little Liars” star was asked about “Hollywood politics,” namely the ongoing feud between Swift and Kim Kardashian, and whose “team” she’s on. Bellisario said she has an “aversion” to the Kardashians, but was also quoted as saying of Swift, “I’m so appalled by what I consider to be her false feminism.”

She reportedly went on, “It seems like she’s this person who’s like, ‘Sisterhood!’ and then she does nothing but tear down the women that were once her friends. So is it possible to just be, like… this is a two-party system that I don’t want to be a part of? Can I just say that? Can I say that I would choose the Green Party in this?”

Bellisario’s alleged comments were widely picked up by other outlets, but late Friday, she took to Twitter to insist she was not slamming Swift. After eTalk tweeted that she “calls out Taylor Swift’s false feminism,” the actress replied, “For goodness sake what I said about her was that I truly had no opinion on whatever matter was most recently going on with her… please leave me out of noise like this. I basically said I would like to have no opinion on the topic. I’ve never even met her.”

She further tweeted to Perez Hilton, “I said I couldn’t care less bout another Swift feud-apparently that means Im in one w/ her.” And in response to E!, which posted, “Now they got problems: Troian Bellisario is ‘appalled’ by Taylor Swift’s ‘false feminism,'” she wrote, “More like I’m ‘appalled’ by people who misquote me & attach a terrible photo of me, when really i want nothing to do gossip. peace.”

Follower and YouTube Raphael Gomes, however, pointed out that Bellisario shouldn’t have commented in the first place. She acknowledged this, replying, “You are right for that, I’m going to give a lot of non answers in the media from now on.” She added, “Worst part is, the rest of the interview was lovely, I enjoyed talking about the DNC and why this election matters. Sadly the only thing thing that got the most attention from other outlets in that interview was a BS side comment.” Swift herself hasn’t responded to any of Bellisario’s remarks.
