Julia Roberts is NOT in a “$250 million divorce,” despite a new tabloid cover story falsely claiming she’s split from Danny Moder. Gossip Cop can correct the report.
According to Wednesday’s new issue of In Touch, “it’s over” for the longtime couple “after one of their worst fights ever.” Though Roberts and Moder were photographed engaging in PDA during a family vacation in Hawaii last month, a so-called “insider” is quoted as saying that on the trip, “the true nature of the couple’s failing marriage was exposed.” Yes, readers are supposed to believe that’s a real quote from a real person.
And after supposedly having one of their “worst fights ever” while in paradise, the magazine writes, “It was the fight that ended it all: After years of ups and downs, Julia and Danny’s 14-year marriage is in crisis once again and barreling toward a divorce — and a fight over her $250 million fortune.” The alleged tipster claims, “They’re tried time and again to stop the looming breakup, but whether they can admit it or not, it’s over.”
Hold up. So, In Touch isn’t even pretending the couple has told friends they’re getting divorced and is just going based off what a supposed “insider” believes their status to be? That’s about as rock-solid as the outlet implying Roberts was “looking somber as she went shopping” because of marital woes. Of course, the story is also filled out with details on alleged battles over their careers and how to parent their children.
But the piece even ends with a cover for when an official breakup never happens. “They still love each other and there’s a possibility they could reverse course, but the outlook is bleak,” says the tabloid’s source. “Julia is praying that they can somehow work things out and stave off a pricey divorce. But right now, a divorce is imminent.”
That’s hard to believe given that In Touch previously announced a “divorce bombshell” for Roberts and Moder last October. Nine months later, time has proven how “imminent” that supposed split wasn’t. Now a source tells Gossip Cop that the magazine is still out of touch when it comes to Roberts’ marriage.
