Fans are showing support for Halsey after she revealed she suffered a miscarriage last year. The singer made the admission in a new interview with Rolling Stone.

The topic comes up when Halsey says she read a prior story by her Rolling Stone interviewer about Planned Parenthood. She confesses, “I felt like I was suffocating reading that article. Like someone put a shopping bag over my head. I didn’t want to meet you at all. I was really terrified of you, because I knew as soon as I saw you, I was going to need to tell you that last year on tour I got pregnant.”

Of the unexpected pregnancy, she recalls thinking, “What happens? Do I lose my record deal? Do I lose everything? Or do I keep [the pregnancy]? What are the fans going to think? What are the moms going to think? What is the Midwest going to think? What’s f*cking everyone going to think?”

The blossoming star was in Chicago for a special show when the miscarriage happened. “I’m like, ‘I have to cancel this show!’ And everyone’s kind of like, ‘Well, it’s Vevo LIFT, and it’s 3 million impressions, so …’ No one knew what to do.” According to the magazine, “Halsey sent her assistant to the drugstore to buy adult diapers. She put one on, took two Percocet and went to the venue to do her job.”

“It’s the angriest performance that I’ve ever done in my life,” Halsey now reflects. “That was the moment of my life where I thought to myself, ‘I don’t feel like a f*cking human being anymore.’ This thing, this music, Halsey, whatever it is that I’m doing, took precedence and priority over every decision that I made regarding this entire situation from the moment I found out until the moment it went wrong. I walked offstage and went into the parking lot and just started throwing up.”

Halsey goes on to say she “beat myself up” for the miscarriage, noting, “because I think that the reason it happened is just the lifestyle I was living. I wasn’t drinking. I wasn’t doing drugs. I was f*cking overworked — in the hospital every couple of weeks because I was dehydrated, needing bags of IVs brought to my green room. I was anemic, I was fainting. My body just broke the f*ck down.”

“I want to be a mom more than I want to be a pop star. More than I want to be anything in the world,” she further confesses. The candor has prompted “#proudofhasley” to become a trending topic on Twitter. Fans are using the hashtag to thank the singer for her honesty, and show appreciation for her career.

@bellsniaz tweeted, “Having a miscarriage is one of the hardest things that a woman can face… I wish her the best.” @dominatemalum said, “Wow I’m speechless, she had so much strength to go on stage and perform to fans whilst dealing with something so traumatic.” @pinkhalsey wrote, “She put on a brilliant performance right after having a miscarriage even though she didn’t have to, i am so #proudofhalsey.”

“#proudofhalsey she goes through so much for her art and for us. at the end of the day all that matters is this smile,” posted @halsthetic.” @kickmemuke told the performer, “You are strong, the strongest woman i’ve known, please keep smiling and never stop fighting @halsey #proudofhalsey.” @halseysbaby also noted, “#proudofhalsey shes given us her all every single day, we need to give that back to her.”

@flashinghalsey even said, “#proudofhalsey I can’t wait one day when Halsey has her baby because she’s going to be in such great hands with an amazing mother.” And @jackupwilk argued, “you don’t have to be a fan of hers, but look at all she does for her supporters & what she’s overcome #proudofhalsey.”
