Many of the wounded arrived at Lee Memorial Health System around 1:30 a.m. for treatment. The victims ranged from 12 to 27 years old because the party was reportedly for a young crowd. Three people have been detained for questioning as the investigation continues to develop.
Celebrity Health Scares
Club Blu has since released a statement on its official Facebook page. "We are deeply sorry for all involved. We tried to give the teens WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A SAFE PLACE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME. Ages 12-17," the statement reads. "There was armed security as well as full security, inside and out. As the club was closing and parents were picking their children up.....that's when all this took place. There was nothing more we could of done [as] you see it was not kids at the party that did this despicable act."
The tragedy comes six weeks after gunman Omar Seddique Mateen killed 49 people and injured 53 others at gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando, Florida, on June 12. The incident was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
