Game Of Thrones ending

“Game Of Thrones” will end after season 8, it was announced on Saturday. Now fans are reacting to the news.

The announcement was made by HBO’s programming chief Casey Bloys during the network’s TCA session. “I think [producers] have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do,” he told reporters, acknowledging, “If I could get them to do more, I would take 10 seasons, but we want to take their lead with what they could do and what the best version of the show is.”

George R.R. Martin, on whose books the show is based, has not yet finished writing, but has had talks with executives about how to proceed with the series. And with season 7 delayed to the summer of 2017, there is still quite a bit of time to figure how to wrap things up. Not surprisingly, though, fans aren’t too happy that the show will be coming to an end.

With a crying emoji, @buzzy_mark tweeted, “Game of Thrones ends in 2 seasons.” @DigitalHowl expressed, “The last season of Game of Thrones?! *gasp*.” @DLGImages exclaimed, “What??!! Noooooo, how? Got damn it!!”

“I can’t believe we’re gonna know how game of thrones ends in less than 2 years,” posted @dixongrimes_. ‏@dancinxqueen admitted, “I don’t want to be the one who breaks the news to my grandpa about Game of Thrones ending with season eight.” And @lornasoonhee tweeted, “My heart has now shattered into a million pieces. #brokenhearted #GoT.”

Still, others took a different approach to the news, such as @cappiehead who tweeted, “Sad but also happy the writers know this in advance. Always the best option imo. #got #betterthancancellation.” Also looking on the bright side, @Bari_87 pointed out, “GAME OF THRONES IS NOW 8 SEASONS INSTEAD OF 7! F*CK YEAH.” @warpedrhythm similarly said, “At least we have two more years of Game of Thrones to look forward to.”

Interestingly, the announcement comes exactly a week after it revealed “The Vampire Diaries” will also be ending with season 8.
