Ellen DeGeneres is NOT worried Drew Barrymore will be hired as her talk show host replacement, despite a bogus tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this claim. We’re told there’s “no truth” to it.
It was recently announced that DeGeneres is helping develop a talk show for Barrymore, but according to OK!, she’s reluctantly doing so to please her bosses at Warner Bros. A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “Drew’s a unique talent with lots of celebrity friends. And she has kids, so she’s very relatable to a daytime audience. If Ellen’s not careful, Drew could take her job.”
The magazine’s seemingly made-up “insider” goes on to say DeGeneres is concerned that if the actress’s show is a big hit, network executives might decide to just give Barrymore her time slot so they won’t have to pay DeGeneres’ large salary. As a result of this supposed situation, the outlet’s “source” claims the host is “messing with Drew’s head.” “She’ll schedule a meeting to discuss ideas and then ‘forget,'” adds the alleged insider.
But Gossip Cop checked in with an impeccable DeGeneres source, who laughed off the tabloid’s claim before exclusively assuring us it’s “not true.” In fact, we’re told it was DeGeneres herself who came up with the idea to create a talk show for Barrymore and will serve as the show’s executive producer.
Unfortunately, Gossip Cop has often had to call out OK! for making up a slew of untrue stories about the daytime TV host. We previously busted the magazine for falsely alleging DeGeneres was unfriendly during a Finding Dory press event. And shortly before that tall tale, Gossip Cop debunked the tabloid’s made-up claim that “SNL” producers were trying to convince DeGeneres to host the sketch comedy series by allowing Portia de Rossi to make a cameo appearance. This latest article is equally wrong.
