'Survivor' climbs without 'American Idol,' while 'Rosewood' sinks in return.
The Real O'Neals, the first of several midseason launches on deck at ABC, opened on Wednesday night with two original episodes.
Airing after a special 8 p.m. outing of The Goldbergs and then again after an original Modern Family, the comedy stood little chance of outright failing. Instead, it took a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49 during its first episode and then rose to a 1.9 rating in the key demo for its second. The show's first episode was its most watched, averaging 6.3 million viewers.
The Goldbergs (2.0 adults) and Modern Family (2.6 adults) were both steady with last week, as was American Crime (0.8 adults).
Survivor climbed without having to contend with American Idol. The CBS series rose three-tenths of a point to a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49. After a steady Criminal Minds (1.9 adults), CSI: Cyber rose three-tenths from its last Sunday showing to a 1.2 rating in the key demo.
The Mysteries of Laura was up two-tenths of a point on NBC, bringing a 1.2 rating in the key demo, while Law & Order: SUV (1.6 adults) and Chicago PD (1.5 adults) held.
With American Idol now just airing on Thursdays, Rosewood returned to Fox with a mere 0.9 rating among adults 18-49. That was off six-tenths of a point from its last original in December, when it aired ahead of Empire. Hell's Kitchen dropped minus its American Idol lead-in, slipping to a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49.
