Stephen Colbert's Late Show studio inside the Ed Sullivan Theater is just across the street from the Broadway Theatre, currently housing performances of Fiddler on the Roof.

And sometimes, the audience gets confused.

"He doesn't look anything like Tevye. ... What scene is this?" a viewer humorously asked Colbert during Tuesday's episode. The bit continued to note that the family of three, who flew in from Kansas to appease their son, were hoping to see a performance of the hit revival but accidentally waiting in line for the wrong theater.

Thankfully, Colbert obliged by singing a few bars of "Matchmaker," and cast members of the Broadway show suddenly joined him onstage for the musical number.

"Maybe we'll make this a yearly tradition," said Colbert, which cued the entrance of star Danny Burstein with the show's iconic opening number, "Tradition" — this time, with Colbert in a beard and hat for the lively dance moves.
