The Office alum Craig Robinson has booked a recurring role on the USA Network hacker drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Robinson will play Ray, a neighborhood local who reaches out to Elliot (Rami Malek) in his time of need. Robinson joins recently announced cast additions Grace Gummer, rapper Joey Bada$$ and Chris Conroy for the forthcoming second season, which begins production Monday in New York City.
The role marks a rare dramatic turn for Robinson, who broke out on the NBC comedy before moving to his own NBC comedy, Mr. Robinson, which aired this past summer. In addition to recurring roles on Eastbound and Down and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Robinson's film credits include This Is the End and Hot Tub Time Machine. He also recently signed on to host Spike's karaoke-inspired game show Caraoke Showdown. He is repped by UTA and 3 Arts Entertainment.
Fresh off of Golden Globe and Critics Choice award wins for best drama series, Mr. Robot is set to return for season two this summer on USA.
Christian Slater, Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin and Martin Wallstrom also star in the Universal Cable Productions series. The drama hails from creator Sam Esmail, who exec produces with Anonymous Content's Steve Golin and Chad Hamilton.
