Josh Helman has booked a key series regular role on the rebooted Fox drama.
Fox's Wayward Pines is rounding out its sophomore season cast.
The drama, which is undergoing a casting reboot for season two, has enlisted Mad Max alum Josh Helman as a series regular, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Wayward Pines will pick up after the events of the season one finale, with the residents of Wayward Pines battling against the iron-fisted rule of the First Generation. Dr. Theo Yedlin (Jason Patric) — a new resident of the town — awakens from suspended animation and finds himself in the middle of this rebellion as he tries to understand what Wayward Pines really is and help preserve the endangered human race.
Helman will portray Xander, a confident and charming guy working to undermine Wayward Pines from within. The character has a complicated relationship with the powerful forces in town — both the adults and the so-called First Generation.
He joins new Wayward Pines cast members including Patric, Djimon Hounsou, Christopher Meyer, Kacey Rohl and Nimrat Kaur. It's unclear which of the season one cast will return for the sophomore outing.
Helman's credits include his role as Slit in Mad Max: Fury Road, as Major Bill Stryker in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Jack Reacher and Animal Kingdom. On the small screen, his roles include HBO's The Pacific. Repped by Gersh, Stokes Management and Lisa Mann Creative Management in Australia, the actor next will reprise his role as Stryker in X-Men: Apocalypse, due May 27.
