'The Biggest Loser' is also down as broadcast's nightly narrative is not especially great.
Few broadcast shows had much to brag about on Monday night. Though cable news coverage of the Iowa Caucuses took some attention away from the Big Four, it likely wasn't enough to account for several double-digit drops.
The X-Files, which saw its first Monday live-plus-three showing rise 44 percent in the key demo, dropped the most. It was off six-tenths of a point to a 2.6 rating among adults 18-49. That was still enough to lock No. 1 status for the night, though neighbor Lucifer (1.9 adults) slipped half of a point — and below The Bachelor. (Lucifer's first round of live-plus-three time-shifting had it up 42 percent to a 3.4 rating with adults 18-49.)
ABC's reality show was steady with a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 7.4 million viewers, giving the network second-place status for the night. CBS had just one original entry, Supergirl, which was down three-tenths of a point to a 1.5 rating in the key demo.
Both Superstore (1.4 adults) and Telenovela (0.8 adults) were steady on NBC, the former proving to be a much stronger draw for the network, while The Biggest Loser was down three-tenths of a point to just a 1.0 rating in the key demo.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend, steady in the demo with a 0.4 rating among adults 18-49, did manage to notch a series high 1.04 million viewers on the CW after a steady Jane the Virgin (0.4 adults).
