'The X-Files' still narrowly tops the night, while ABC's reality show hits season highs.
Fox led Monday night with steady episodes of The X-Files and Lucifer, but a rising Bachelor gave the former a run for its money.
Against Fox's lineup of the event series, averaging a 2.5 rating among adults 18-49, and the freshman drama (a 1.7 rating in the key demo), ABC's dating competition climbed two-tenths of a point with adults 18-49 for an average 2.4 rating. Paired with the return of Castle, which averaged little more in its live-plus-same showing than Bachelor Live, the network had to settle for No. 2 status for the night.
The Bachelor was not alone in its improvement. CBS' Supergirl climbed three-tenths of a point to a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m., partnered with steady episodes of Scorpion (2.0 adults) and NCIS: LA (1.5 adults).
NBC had steady episodes of Superstore (1.4 adults) and Telenovela (0.9 adults), though The Biggest Loser did improve two-tenths of a point for a 1.2 rating with adults 18-49.
On the CW, Crazy Ex Girlfriend (0.4 adults) and Jane the Virgin (0.4 adults) held. Crazy Ex Girlfriend, for the first time this season, outperformed its network neighbor.
