Elizabeth Mitchell and Elizabeth Lail will star in Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis' 'Dead of Summer.'
Once Upon a Time creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis are bringing two of their Frozen favorites with them to their upcoming Freeform drama.
Elizabeth Mitchell and Elizabeth Lail have been tapped to star in the Once creator's upcoming new Freeform drama series Dead of Summer, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Dead of Summer — picked up straight to series — takes place in the late 1980s and follows the counselors at a seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp called Camp Clearwater as they experience their first loves, first kisses and first kills. However, Clearwater's dark, ancient mythology awakens and what was supposed to be a summer of fun quickly turns into one of terror at every turn.
Mitchell (Lost, Once Upon a Time, V) will star as Deb, the new owner of Camp Clearwater. Once a camper herself, Deb has her heart set on bringing back the magic of the summer camp she loved. She exudes authority while simultaneously presenting a warm and welcoming vibe. Behind closed doors however, Deb seems to value her control over the camp for a much darker reason.
Lail, meanwhile, is set as Amy, a clever but nervous counselor who is new to Camp Clearwater. Amy is not unfamiliar with being the new girl in social situations and the pitfalls that come with it, so she tries hard to fit in with the already bonded counselors. As the others reminisce about their past summers at camp, Amy is the first to discover clues that something disturbing is going on at Camp Clearwater.
The castings reunite Kitsis and Horowitz with Mitchell and Lail, who played Ingrid (the Snow Queen) and Anna, respectively, during Once's Frozen arc in 2014.
Mitchell, repped by Paradigm and Link Entertainment, counts her Emmy-nominated turn on Lost as well as the upcoming The Purge 3, due in the summer. Lail, repped by ICM Partners and Authentic, broke out with her role on Once.
Mitchell and Lail join the previously cast Zelda Williams (Teen Wolf), Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty), Alberto Frezza (Charlie’s Angels), Eli Goree (The 100), Ronen Rubenstein (Orange Is the New Black) and Paulina Singer (Gotham) in the drama.
From ABC Signature, Kitsis, Horowitz and Ian Goldberg (Once)will write and exec produce Dead of Summer. Horowitz and Kitsis will direct the first episode.
