While fans are waiting for a full trailer for season six, a brand new video has arrived to satisfy the thirst for the winds of winter.
HBO released a behind-the-scenes feature Monday showcasing the work of the camera operators responsible for bringing Game of Thrones to life. It's a fascinating look at the effort involved in crafting the twisting-and-turning fantasy series, and certainly our best look yet at actual new footage from the coming season.
Keep an eye out for an inside look at the Dothraki army Daenerys encountered during the season five finale, for instance. The new feature reveals that we'll be heading to their camp in the coming year. Elsewhere, Jorah Mormont and Daario Naharis continue their search for the missing Queen of Meereen, while a solemn Tyrion Lannister paces back and forth in a Meereenese chamber, presumably contemplating his next move.
In Westeros, we see forces gathering, from large scale armies to smaller reunions like Daavos Seaworth and Melisandre the Red Priestess, both of whom were last seen on the Wall. North of the Night's Watch headquarters, there's a quick glimpse of Meera Reed sitting in the snow, our first look at the character since the season four finale, "The Children."
Perhaps the most intriguing bit in the whole video involves scenes shot at Winterfell. The ancestral seat of House Stark currently belongs to Ramsay and Roose Bolton, two of the most sinister characters currently alive on Thrones. But the scene depicts a happier occasion, as two children play fight in the courtyard, without a single sign of the heavy snow of winter currently ravaging the North.
Could this be a flashback to earlier in Bran Stark's life, or even to one of his relatives — his father Ned, perhaps? A photo of Bran and the Three-Eyed Raven standing in Winterfell was released weeks ago (pictured above), further fueling suspicions that season six will heavily feature scenes from the past.
There's much more to behold in the video, including what appears to be Game of Thrones' answer to the 1997 action movie Face/Off. Watch below:
