'The 100' and 'Continuum' alum Tanaya Beatty will join the third-year medical drama.
NBC's The Night Shift is adding a new series regular.
The 100 and Continuum alum Tanaya Beatty has joined the third-year medical drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Beatty will play Dr. Shannon Rivera, a recent med school graduate who volunteered at the reservation clinic where she impressed Dr. Jordan Alexander (Jill Flint), who recruited her to intern at San Antonio Memorial Hospital. Shannon is spunky and outspoken and doesn’t have a problem speaking her mind — some people will love her, others not so much.
For Beatty, the role marks her follow-up to HBO mini Lewis and Clark, where she played Sacagawea. Her credits include features Words and Pictures as well as Twilight: Breaking Dawn — Part 1. On the small screen, her work includes recurring roles on The CW's The 100 and Syfy's Continuum. She's repped by the Characters Talent Agency and LINK Entertainment.
Beatty joins Scott Wolf, who was upped to series regular for season three, and Jennifer Beals, who boarded the drama as the recurring role of Dr. Syd Jennings.
The Night Shift, produced by Sony Pictures Television, centers on the lives of the doctors and staff members who work the overnight shift at the ER in San Antonio Memorial Hospital. The drama returns to NBC in 2016; a specific date has not yet been determined.
