'Nashville's' RJ Cutler is also on board to direct the pilot for 'Four Stars.'
CBS added to its drama roster Thursday with a military family drama.
The network has handed out a pilot order to Four Stars, written and produced by A Gifted Man trio.
The drama revolves around two powerful rival families in the military community of Tampa, Fla., who make decisions at the highest levels in the interest of national security.
A Gifted Man's Becky Mode (whose credits also include Cosby) will pen the script and exec produce the drama and reunite with Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly, who exec produce via their CBS Television Studios-based Timberman/Beverly Productions banner. Nashville's RJ Cutler is on board to exec produce and direct the pilot.
For CBS, Four Stars becomes the network's seventh drama pilot overall this season. It joins reboots of Training Day, Nancy Drew and MacGyver as well as Jason Katims medical drama Bunker Hill, Dr. Phil legal drama Bull and the redeveloped courtroom soap Doubt. Last year, CBS ordered nine drama pilots.
Timberman/Beverly, meanwhile, also are behind Doubt as well as CBS' Elementary and comedy The Odd Couple. The company also has Showtime's Masters of Sex and CBS-to-A&E import Unforgettable.
Four Stars becomes the latest military-themed drama in the works this pilot season. Fox also has its 24 reboot, Legacy; while ABC has Presence, from John Ridley.
