Matthew Perry’s friends are NOT worried he’s facing a relapse on drugs and alcohol, despite a new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this rumor. We’re told it’s “nonsense.”

According to the National Enquirer, the sober actor’s friends are urging him to get help and worried about his supposedly deteriorating health. Only, the magazine doesn’t have any name or quotes from these so-called friends, opting instead to quote a doctor who has never met or treated Perry.

The tabloid’s doctor says, “He looks ill-kempt and homeless, probably because he has other things on his mind… I’d be very concerned and highly suspicious that this could be a relapse.” But, of course, the doctor has nothing to go on other than an unflattering paparazzi photo chosen by the magazine.

The Enquirer then points to a photo of Perry picking up prescription eye drops, and quotes a “drug treatment expert” as saying, “Eye gels are always used by people who are popping lots of painkillers.” Always? How about people with dry eyes, which is a fairly common condition that could occur for any number of reasons?

Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Perry, who exclusively assures us the tabloid’s report is simply “nonsense.” The actor is currently in London working hard on his play which debuts this month, and there are no concerns about a supposed relapse.

The inaccuracy of the tabloid’s story, however, isn’t surprising. Gossip Cop previously corrected the outlet for falsely claiming Perry was feuding with Jennifer Aniston. The magazine also wrongly alleged Aniston talked Courteney Cox out of appearing on Perry’s new show “The Odd Couple.” All those stories were untrue, and so is the latest about him facing a “relapse.”
