Kung Fu Panda 3 is scoring touchdown after touchdown at the box office this Super Bowl weekend.
The animated movie, featuring the voices of Jack Black and Angelina Jolie, is again karate chopping the competition. As Gossip Cop reported, Kung Fu Panda opened at number one last week, and it’s holding on to that position now. For its second weekend, the flick is expected to top the chart with $21.1 million.
It’s typically slower at the box office during Super Bowl weekend, which could explain why the star-studded Hail, Caesar! is fumbling and only looking at $11.1 million for a second-place debut. The Revenant is eyeing third with a potential $6.9 million in ticket sales.
Bringing in $6.6 million would put the record-breaking Star Wars: The Force Awakens in the number four spot. Nicholas Sparks may have no choice but watch his latest book-movie adaptation The Choice settle for a fifth-place opening with a projected $5.7 million. Also disappointing, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is likely to only have a haul of $5.2 million, which would give it sixth place.
With ticket sales of $4.6 million, The Finest Hours is a contender for number seven. Possibly rounding out the top 10 are Ride Along 2 ($4.4 million), Dirty Grandpa ($3.9 million), and The Boy ($3.8 million). All figures are currently estimates. Gossip Cop will have updates.
