Kevin James has found his new TV wife.

Childrens Hospital star Erinn Hayes has signed on to star opposite the King of Queens alum in his new CBS comedy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

In the untitled multi-cam series, which was first picked up for 13 episodes in October, James plays a newly retired cop looking forward to spending more quality time with his wife and three kids. However, he soon discovers he faces much tougher challenges at home than he ever did at work.

Hayes will play Donna, Kevin's wife of 20 years who's had to hold the family together until he retires from the police force. She joins a cast that also includes Taylor Spreitler, Ryan Cartwright, Leonard Earl Howze, Mary-Charles Jones and James DiGiacomo.

Hayes' casting comes after an extensive search. In addition to her seven seasons on Childrens Hospital, Hayes' credits include Parenthood, Parks and Recreation, New Girl and Guys With Kids. She is repped by UTA and Sweeney Entertainment.

The series marks James' return to CBS after nine seasons on The King of Queens. The comedian is also a writer and executive producer on the project, along with Bruce Helford (Anger Management) and Rock Reuben. Jeff Sussman will also exec produce. Sony Pictures Television, where James has a massive overall deal, and CBS Television Studios will co-produce.

The comedy is part of a bigger push for more family comedies being made by new entertainment head Glenn Geller. Family-centered half-hours have been popular across the big four networks during this pilot season.
