Fox's 24: Legacy has cast its leading lady.

Homeland graduate Miranda Otto has been tapped to star in the network's reboot of the Kiefer Suthlerland franchise, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The new take features an all-new cast of characters and will be structured in the same style of the original series. Legacy revolves around a military hero's (Corey HawkinsStraight Outta Compton) return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back — compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.
Otto will star as Rebecca Ingram, the blazing smart former head of CTU. Now married to Sen. John Donovan (not yet cast), she struggles with second thoughts about having left the counter-terrorism agency.

The role comes after Otto's series regular role on Showtime's Homelandcame to an end last year. The actress, who last year dropped out of HBO's Westworld, has seen her profile rise after Homeland, with multiple talent agents calling her this season's "it girl." The casting continues her relationship with 20th Century Fox Television, whose cable arm produces Homeland. Otto's credits include features The Homesman, War of the Worlds and Fox's Rake. She's repped by Gersh and Management 360.

Manny Coto and Evan Katz will pen the script and exec produce 20th Century Fox Television's Legacy alongside Teakwood Lane's Howard Gordon and Imagine TV's Brian Grazer. Stephen Hopkins will direct the pilot, which was formally announced this month at TCA.
