The a capella docuseries will return for a second round of eight episodes.

Pop is going to sing again.

The cabler formerly known as TV Guide Network has renewed docuseries Sing It On for a second season. The eight-episode a capella entry will go back into production this month for a premiere in the second half of the year.
Produced by John Legend and his Get Lifted Film Co, Sharp Entertainment and parent company CORE Media Group, the series follows collegiate a capella groups.

"Competing in collegiate a cappella provided building blocks for my career as a performer and started the foundation of lifelong friendships,” Legend said in a release announcing the news Monday. "Sing It On captures all of the emotion and excitement of the ICCA competition, in addition to covering the personal stories and friendships that make a cappella a true community."

"We are thrilled to bring back our fan-favorite series Sing It On for a second season on Pop. A cappella continues to grow its fan base with groups like Pentatonix hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart last year, and a Pitch Perfect 3 movie on the way," said Paul Adler, senior vp and head of original programming and development at Pop. "We hope viewers will continue to discover and root for our collegiate singing teams, and fall in love with both their talent and personal stories the way we have at Pop."

Pop is a joint venture between CBS Corp. and Lionsgate and home to such syndicated series as Entertainment Tonight, The Insider and more.
