Demi Lovato reveals she was pressured as a teenager by Disney to change her physical appearance. The singer and actress makes the bold new claim in an interview for the February cover of Allure.

When asked about the worst beauty advice she has ever gotten, Lovato admits it came when she rose to fame as the star of Camp Rock in 2008. Recalling when she was just 15 years old, Lovato says, “I had a gap between my two front teeth. They were like, ‘Would you be willing to fix it?’” Although she agreed to it back then, the actress and singer feels, “I wish today that I hadn’t because my gap was really cute.”

At 23, Lovato now notes that she’s able to stand up for herself better. Just the night before the interview, she says she called out a fan who dissed her outside her hotel for not taking a photo with her.

Following some verbal jabs, Lovato told her bodyguard, “Go get that girl. Bring her in here.” She then explained to the rude fan, “I never want you to feel like I take you for granted. But I cannot stop every single time and that gives you no excuse to disrespect me… because I have too much respect for myself.” In the end, however, Lovato says she relented and took a photo with the young girl.
