Steve-O began his jail sentence on Wednesday, but not before doing a backflip at the entrance to the property. See video below.
As Gossip Cop reported, Steve-O was arrested in August after climbing a 100-foot crane on Los Angeles’ Santa Monica Boulevard, at the top of which he held a whale float with the words “SeaWorld Sucks” written on it and set off fireworks. Unaware that it was protest stunt, more than 80 firefighters initially rushed to the scene, with the star later getting slammed for wasting emergency resources. In October, he was sentenced to 30 days in jail.
Steve-O first revealed he would be surrendering this week on Tuesday, when he wrote on Instagram, “Spent my last day of freedom smashing cars with @jessewelle and @jeanapvp. Now I’m ready for jail tomorrow! #seaworldsucks.” He went on to write Wednesday, “Today I’m going to jail because I got sentenced to 30 days for breaking the law while protesting SeaWorld, which has imposed lifelong sentences to those who’ve done nothing wrong. #SeaWorldSucks.”
On Wednesday afternoon, Steve-O made his way to the Twin Towers Correction Facility, which is run by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. In a clip posted to Instagram, the star says, “Here we are at Twin Towers Correctional Facility. This is my reservation.” After holding up his paperwork, Steve-O backflips off the building’s cement sign, and then shouts, “And I’m ready, let’s go!”
The video’s caption reads, “Here I am at jail. See ya when I see ya, folks! #yeahdude #SeaWorldSucks.” It’s not clear if, like other nonviolent offenders, Steve-O may be released early due to jail overcrowding. Gossip Cop will have updates. TELL US: What do you think of Steve-O being behind bars for his SeaWorld protest?
