Star Trek Beyond, the third movie in the rebooted Star Trek franchise, has just released its first teaser trailer. Watch the new preview below!
Based on the first footage, this newest sequel appears to be lighter and more comedic in tone than the previous movies. The action-packed preview is set to the Beastie Boys’ 1994 hit “Sabotage,” which happens to go along quite nicely with the scenes, despite them being set in outer space.
Returning cast members include Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and John Cho. Joining the franchise as a new villain is Idris Elba.
J.J. Abrams, who directed the first two Star Trek reboots, only serves as a producer this time around as he was busy directing another little sci-fi movie known as Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Sitting in the director’s chair for the new sequel is Justin Lin, who helmed three of the Fast and Furious films.
The Star Trek Beyond trailer will debut on the big-screen this Friday at showings of the new Star Wars movie, but you can watch it right now in the video below! Star Trek Beyond hits theaters on July 22, 2016. Check out the first teaser trailer, and tell Gossip Cop what you think.
