The New York Post is seven months late with its coverage of a One Direction appearance on the “Late Late Show.” The paper tried to hide its absurd mistake, but Gossip Cop screen grabbed its gaffe because the tabloid deleted it from Instagram. See photo below.

As Gossip Cop reported earlier, the band appeared on Tuesday’s show in a taped “Carpool Karaoke” segment, but on its Page Six Instagram account, the paper posted a new, mean-spirited dig at One Direction for how they played dodgeball with the show’s host James Corden. That’s interesting, because the dodgeball bit aired on the “Late Late Show” way back in May.

In its failed attempt to be newsy, the New York Post rudely mocked the band. Alongside a photo from the seven-months-old One Direction appearance on the late night talk show, the paper wrote on Instagram, “#OneDirection played dodgeball with #JamesCorden and reminded us why they’re musicians and not athletes.”

After One Direction fans slammed the paper, the woefully late and unfunny post was deleted. One problem: Gossip Cop screen grabbed it. Whoops!

Check out the screen grab below from the Page Six Instagram account in which the New York Post attempted to be witty and newsy, and failed miserably at both. And share your thoughts with Gossip Cop. We anxiously look forward to the paper’s coverage this coming November of the presidential race between Dewey and Truman.
