New ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Trailer Boldly Goes Into ‘Fast & Furious’ Territory

The next "Star Trek" film is officially ready to boldly go where no man has gone before – and "Beyond"!

Paramount Pictures dropped the first trailer for the next installment in that other blockbuster space franchise on Monday, days ahead of its originally scheduled release.

After 2013's moody sophomore effort "Into Darkness," "Star Trek Beyond" appears to have revved its engines in the hands of a new director -- action maestro Justin Lin, who previously helmed four of the "Fast and the Furious" movies.

The Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" provides an amped-up musical backdrop throughout the clip, also hearkening back to a pivotal scene from the 2009 reboot in which we see a young James T. Kirk rocking out to the classic ' 90s track while driving a stolen car.

In addition, the sequel welcomes back producer J.J. Abrams (who stepped down from directorial duties to focus on "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"), and the Enterprise's most familiar faces.

Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and co-writer Simon Pegg are all on hand to face "Beyond's" formidable new foe  -- Idris Elba, rendered unrecognizable under heavy alien prosthetics.

"Star Trek Beyond" beams into theaters on July 22, 2016.
