Madonna swears in a court filing that Sean Penn “never struck” her. The singer made the declaration in papers filed Thursday in connection with Penn’s $10 million defamation suit against Lee Daniels. Madonna adds that any claim otherwise is “outrageous” and “false.”
As Gossip Cop previously report, Penn is suing the “Empire” creator for comparing admitted woman beater Terrence Howard to the Oscar winner in The Hollywood Reporter. Daniels told the trade magazine that Howard “ain’t done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he’s some [expletive] demon,” opining, “That’s a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America.”
The implication was that Penn has struck women. And while it’s true that he’s scrapped with paparazzi, Penn has never laid a finger on a woman. And his ex-wife Madonna is attesting to that. She says in her sworn statement that she’s “aware of the allegations that have surfaced over the years accusing Sean of incidents of physical assault and abuse against me,” including an “alleged incident that occurred in June 1987, whereby (according to tabloid reports) Sean allegedly struck me with a ‘baseball bat.’” But Madonna says those reports were “completely outrageous, malicious, reckless, and false.”
The singer notes there have also been other alleged incidents, and while they had “heated arguments” during their marriage, Madonna attests that Penn “never struck me” or “physically assaulted me.” She reiterates that any claim to the contrary is “completely outrageous, malicious, reckless, and false.”
