Beyonce is NOT suing her father Matthew Knowles over the ownership of Destiny’s Child, despite a fabricated tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this story. We’re told it’s “untrue.”
Knowles owns the rights to the name and music of his daughter’s old girl group, but according to In Touch, Beyonce is now fighting for control. A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “Beyonce is going to sue her own father. She’ll take him to court to show that she deserves the rights to her own band.”
The tabloid’s dubious insider goes on to allege that the music superstar feels her dad “stole the group and the trademark,” and is supposedly trying to produce a film biopic about the performers without their permission. The magazine’s ill-informed source adds that Beyonce is looking forward to “watch[ing] the man who took advantage of her go down in flames.”
While the tale makes for great drama, it’s not based at all in reality. A rep for Beyonce exclusively tells Gossip Cop there’s simply “no credibility” to the tabloid’s story. This has been the case with numerous In Touch reports about the singer, including a recent one we corrected claiming she and Jay-Z were divorcing. Much like that claim, Beyonce’s rep assures Gossip Cop the alleged Destiny’s Child lawsuit story is also “untrue.”
