Andrea Navedo Previews ‘Jane The Virgin’s’ Midseason Finale

It's baby Mateo's first Christmas on Monday night's "Jane the Virgin."

"It's very special," Andrea Navedo, who plays Jane's mom, Xiomara ("Xo"), told AccessHollywood.com. "It's very sweet."

In The CW show's midseason finale, there will be laughs, a fight (Gina Rodriguez's Jane and Justin Baldoni's Rafael take Mateo for his first pic with Santa and end up in an argument), and even some Tina Turner-esque dancing.

"That was actually Gina-inspired. She's so organic and in the moment and she just comes up with stuff and that was not scripted," Andrea said of the "Proud Mary"-routine style moment in the sneak peek trailer."That was a celebration dance and you'll find out in the episode what that was about. That was all Gina -- God bless that woman, I love her – hence the Golden Globe nomination [she received last week]. She's just in the moment, went into that and I just followed her. And we were surprised. We were like, 'They're not going to use that take.'… And sure enough they did. We're like, 'Yeah, that's so great. They used that take that was not scripted.' It was just a celebration dance and we had something to celebrate in that moment."

While Xo will be having fun with her daughter, she'll also be continuing to lend a supportive ear to Rogelio, who is still in a slump, both career-wise and financially speaking.

"Xo is taking care of Rogelio more than anything. She's trying to keep him on the straight and narrow, trying to keep him from spending too much money, just being supportive of him and his choice to scale back on his budget, and there's a little bit of a dilemma that [happens]," Andrea said.

But no December midseason finale of "JTV" would be complete without a touching holiday celebration with family.

"Yeah. [We'll] definitely have a really nice family moment that involves the tree and there's some history to it. It's going to be a Villanueva women, [and now] we have two male family members – Mateo and Rogelio -- moment. So yeah, real heartfelt emotional stuff for Christmas," she said.

But, with all things "JTV," don't expect things to be tied up in a bow.

"There's definitely a cliffhanger and it's a juicy one, it's fun," Andrea said of how the show will leave things hanging until its 2016 return.

"Jane the Virgin's" midseason finale airs Monday at 9/8c on The CW.
