The Fox drama logs a season low, dipping to a 4.2 rating in the key demo.
After several steady same-day showings, Empire stumbled again on Wednesday. The Fox drama, still handily the No. 1 show of the night, dropped four-tenths of a point in the key demo to a season low 4.2 rating among adults 18-49.
Empire's audience was less humbled, relatively steady with 11.2 million viewers. The show continues to post stronger gains with time-shifting. The latest live-plus-7 day ratings for Empire, for its Oct. 21 episode, have it climbing 50 percent in the key demo to a 7.2 rating with adults 18-49.
Partnered with a steady Rosewood (1.4 adults), Fox won the night — reclaiming the Wednesday title from ABC, which aired the CMA Awards last week.
The Voice aired a Wednesday episode to the tune of a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49. That lead-in, more than twice the typical showing for The Mysteries of Laura, allowed for a big boost for both Law & Order: SVU (2.0 adults). The show climbed more than 30 percent from its latest episode before a boosted Chicago PD (1.6 adults).
The ABC lineup was completely unchanged from its last originals two weeks ago. Modern Family topped the block with a 2.7 rating among adults 18-49, while The Middle pulled a 2.0 rating, The Goldbergs earned a 2.1 rating, Black-ish took a 1.9 rating and Nashville finished the night with a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49.
A steady Survivor (2.1 adults) was followed by an improved outing for Criminal Minds (1.6 adults) and a steady Code Black (1.3 adults) on CBS. And, on the CW, Arrow (0.9 adults) shed two-tenths of a point before a steady Supernatural (0.7 adults).
