Stars are mourning the death of Allen Toussaint, who died of a heart attack at 77 on Monday. The news of the musician’s untimely passing has been met by an outpouring of love from fans and celebrities. See star reactions below.

Toussaint had just finished performing at Madrid’s Teatro Lara when he was found in his hotel room. Emergency medical technicians were able to resuscitate Toussaint, but sadly he suffered a second heart attack en route to the hospital. The R&B legend, who worked with some of the biggest names in music including, Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello, Patti Labelle and The Rolling Stones, was slated to perform at the London Jazz Festival this weekend.

Hugh Laurie tweeted, “Allen Toussaint. Poor old world, lucky old heaven.” John Stamos offered, “#AllenToussaint is the perfect bouncy blend for this Tues morn. #RIP and thank you. #NOLA” And Loni Love sent her condolences: “Rest in Music: Music Legend Allen Toussaint Dead at 77.”

Elijah Wood expressed, “Sad to hear of the passing of Allen Toussaint. I know New Orleans will boogie a little harder today to honor him.” Fellow musician Billy Bragg tweeted, “RIP Allen Toussaint. The man was a genius. He wrote, arranged and produced many great records.”

Lenny Kravitz posted a picture with Toussaint on Instagram with the caption, “A friend and mentor passed on this morning. Allen Toussaint, legendary musician, songwriter, producer and arranger from New Orleans. I was blessed to have received his love and attention. My condolences go out to the Toussaint family.
