"Saturday Night Live" paid tribute to France and the victims of the Paris terror attacks this weekend.
In lieu of the show's standard cold open sketch, "SNL" cast member Cecily Strong kicked off iconic late night series with a message to France.
"Paris is the city of light. And here in New York City, we know that light will never go out," Cecily said, her voice full of emotion as she spoke of the violent attacks that killed at least 129 people and injured more than 350. "Our love and support is with everyone there tonight. We stand with you."
She then repeated her opening lines in French, before issuing the show's classic seven-word opener, "Live from New York, it's Saturday night!"
This isn't the first time "SNL" has skipped their cold open.
Following the 9/11 terror attacks in the U.S., Rudolph Giuliani (NYC's mayor at the time), surrounded by first responders, gave a rousing speech before introducing Paul Simon, who then performed "The Boxer."
"Hunger Games" franchise star Elizabeth Banks hosted this weekend's show, along with musical guest Disclosure.
