At least two members of the Southern California-based rock band Eagles of Death Metal are reportedly safe after a violent attack during their performance in Paris on Friday.
According to KESQ-TV, the group was on stage at the Bataclan concert hall when gunmen opened fire inside the venue, killing dozens and taking many others hostage.
The incident was part of a series of attacks across the French capital, including reported explosions near a stadium where President Francois Hollande was attending a soccer match.
KESQ-TV reported that a relative of Eagles of Death Metal lead singer Jesse Hughes told the station that the musician made it to a Paris police station after escaping out of a backstage door, and that Jesse's brother, Ian Hughes, had shared a Facebook update about Jesse and the band's status.
"Jesse is ok. I spoke to him about an hour ago the band is O.K. too. I hold out hope that as many people as possible make it out O.K. as well. As the situation is still developing I cannot say much else," Ian wrote, according to KESQ-TV.
Emily Dorio, wife of Eagles of Death Metal drummer Julian Dorio, spoke to the Washington Post and said her husband had contacted her and confirmed his safety following the tragedy.
"We are just holding our breath and saying prayers for everyone," Emily told the paper. "He called to say that he loved me and he was safe. Everyone on stage was able to get off."
Opening act Red Lemons shared a Facebook update to assure fans and colleagues that they had also made it to safety amidst the calamity.
"A terrorist attack happened at the Eagles of Death Metal concert. We are safe," the post read. "Mikel Ross, Eric McFadden, we were with your mates Jesse, Tuesday [Cross], the other musicians outside, they're safe too, they took a cab."
However, Eagles of Death Metal's Facebook page posted a message saying some of their band and crew members had yet to be accounted for.
"We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation," the post read.
According to KESQ-TV, founding Eagles of Death Metal member and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme was not present at the Paris concert.
"Eagles of Death Metal" formed in 1998 and have released four studio albums, the most recent of which, "Zipper Down," hit shelves in October.
