One Direction thanked fans during their final “On The Road” concert in Sheffield, England on Saturday and again on social media on Sunday. The band members also gave each other big hugs at the end of the show, leading many to wonder whether this would be their last tour ever, despite them saying they were simply going on a hiatus to relax and pursue solo projects. See the video below.

During the show Harry Styles said he and his bandmates would never forget their fans who supported them for “five years, four months, two weeks and a couple of days.” Niall Horan also noted at the last show, “I remember five years ago when this all started.” In addition to thanking the fans, Horan told his three bandmates that he loved them.

On Sunday morning, a grateful Styles tweeted, “We have been very lucky to work with an amazing crew throughout the last five years of touring. To all of you, thank you for everything.” He went on to say, “To everyone who came out to see us on tour, thank you for having us. You’ve been our everything out there, and we love you. Thank you.”

Similarly, Horan not only thanked their fans again, but he also assured them that the break would not permanent. First, he wrote, “Thank you anyone who has come to watch us live over the last few years, it’s incredible to be able to play our music live for you.” That was followed by a tweet that read, “Don’t let the papers or online stuff tell you we’re not coming back. We are, I’m just going on a long holiday.”

Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, who will work on music together during the hiatus, have yet to take to social media. Gossip Cop will update when they do. Tell us: Do you think One Direction will regroup or do you think “On The Road” may be their last tour?
