One Direction returned on Sunday to “X Factor UK,” where it all started for them five years ago. Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson performed the group’s new hit “Perfect,” much to delight of the audience and “X Factor” judge Simon Cowell, who put the band together. Watch the video below.
Before the performance, an excited Horan tweeted, “Going home tonight ! @TheXFactor… Can’t wait,” and afterwards wrote, “Amazing to be back @TheXFactor tonight .. Loved it .. Make sure you watch us.” Tomlinson similarly expressed, “Amazing to be back on the X factor tonight ! Thanks for having us ! #XFactor.”
The group has been good about coming back year after year to perform on “X Factor UK.” In 2014, they sang “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” with Ronnie Wood during the show’s finale, and the year before performed “Midnight Madness” for that season’s last show.
One Direction performed “Perfect” just two nights earlier at the Royal Variety Performance in London’s Royal Albert Hall for a number of dignitaries, including Prince Harry. Payne, Horan, Tomlinson, and Styles are next heading to the U.S. to promote their newest album Made In The A.M., which was released on Friday. Among the promotional appearances will be an outdoor concert for “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
After One Direction is done promoting its new album, the band is slated to go on a yearlong hiatus, during which time Tomlinson is rumored to join the judges table at the “X Factor UK.” Check out the video below of One Direction returning to the “X Factor” to perform “Perfect,” and tell Gossip Cop what you think.
