Nicki Minaj is the subject of an online casting call from ABC Family, which is hoping to find a future star to play the rapper on screen.
As Gossip Cop reported, it was announced in September that Minaj’s pre-fame life will be the subject of an upcoming series. The performer is executive producing the untitled comedy show, which will focus on her upbringing in Queens, New York. It was said Minaj would make the occasional appearance, but the goal was to find a mini-me to have the starring role.
Now to facilitate that process, ABC Family is inviting girls between the ages of 11 and 13 to submit auditions. Using the Disney Applause app, applicants can access a script and then upload their audition videos. But the opportunity window will close on November 15.
Following the show’s initial announcement, fans immediately flooded social media with casting suggestions. Minaj, however, said she was hoping to find an unknown to walk in her footsteps. She just may if the open casting call pays off.
And this marks the first time ABC Family is taking such action to cast one of its shows. By the time the series eventually makes it to air, the network will be known by a new name, “#Freeform.” TELL US: What do you think of an online casting call being used to find a child version of Minaj?
