NBC is getting a jumpstart on pilot season.

The network has tapped Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia to star in its untitled dramedy from Galavant's Dan Fogelman, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Also joining the ensemble drama are Justin Hartley, Sterling Brown and Ron Cephas Jones.

The hourlong dramedy is described as a unique ensemble that follows characters all born on the same day.

Ventimiglia will play Jack, an easygoing guy who is happily married to Rebecca, and soon-to‐be father of triplets. Moore is set as Rebecca, Jack's wife and best friend. She’s on the verge of giving birth to triplets, after having just moved into their new home in Pittsburg.

Hartley will play Kevin, a handsome and successful television actor with an underlining boredom in his ultimate bachelor life. Brown (Third Watch) is set as Randall, a sharply dressed corporate businessman and family man, based in New York. It’s a team effort to raise two young daughters with his wife Beth. Jones is set as William, Randall’s biological father that abandoned him at a fire station soon after Randall was born.

Fogelman will pen the script and executive produce alongside Jess Rosenthal and Charlie Gogolak (Back in the Game, Kyle XY). John Requa (Back in the Game) and Glenn Ficarra (Back in the Game) are set to direct the pilot and exec produce.

The untitled dramedy landed at NBC following a bidding war. NBC's plan is to hire a casting director shortly and film the pilot before year's end.

The birthday dramedy —  which landed at NBC in September following a bidding war — marked Fogelman's (The Neighbors) first sale under his new, rich overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television. The visionary producer moved from ABC Studios last year after being pursued by multiple studios. Fogelman — who also exec produces Fox's John Stamos comedy Grandfathered — has multiple projects on the works this development season, including a baseball drama about the first female big-leaguer for Fox.

Ventimiglia's recent credits include ABC's The Whispers, Fox's Gotham andTNT's Mob City. He's repped by CAA, Management 360 and McKuin Frankel. Singer-actress-producer Moore, meanwhile, continues to push for a breakout TV role. Her credits include Fox's Red Band Society, ABC's Grey's Anatomy Disney Channel's animated Tangled follow-upand pilots Good Session and Advocates. She's repped by Gersh, Untitled and Ziffren Brittenham.

Hartley (Smallville, The Young and the Restless, Mistresses) is with Innovative Artists. Jones (Mr. Robot) is with Leading Artists.
