Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna are apologizing for his controversial Halloween costume, which featured a swastika.

As seen in Gossip Cop’s celebrity Halloween costume gallery, Hamlin and Rinna attended the Casamigos Tequila party at a private home in Los Angeles on Friday. There were dozens of stars in attendance, all wearing different get-ups to celebrate the occasion. Hamlin and Rinna decided on a couple’s costume, going as Sid Vicious and his partner Nancy.

But Hamlin chose to complete his costume with a red shirt featuring a swastika. He and Rinna happily posted for photographs in costume and character, leading to a number of snapshots with the offensive Nazi symbol clearly on display (such as the one above). Understandably, the wardrobe choice was met with backlash on social media as the pictures circulated over the weekend.

Now Hamlin and Rinna are offering an apology. Along with a photo reading “I’m Sorry,” the actress wrote on Instagram on Monday, “If I hurt you.” She went on, “We were being authentic to the characters of Sid and Nancy for our Halloween costumes. It hurt and angered many of you and we are deeply sorry for that.”

“That was never our intention. We did not mean to offend,” she continued, signing the post, “With love, Lisa and Harry.” Hamlin rarely uses his own Instagram page, and did not post the message on his account. TELL US: What do you think of the controversy?
