Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera are NOT “feuding” over “The Voice,” despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the claim. We’re told the two coaches actually have a great friendship.
According to OK!, Stefani and Aguilera are in a “diva standoff” and an “intense turf battle, with neither wanting to back down first,” making things downright “nasty” between them. “Everyone knows Christina think this is her show and she can swan in and out whenever she likes,” a so-called “insider” tells the outlet, which inaccurately says Aguilera “left the show seasons ago.”
But with Aguilera returning for the next season, it’s alleged she wants to “make everyone forget about Gwen,” who she supposedly refers to as “the substitute.” And how does Stefani feel? “She knows Christina turns her nose up at her and she’s been told about the ‘substitute’ jibe — and she has a few tricks up her sleeve herself,” claims the OK! source.
“She plans on going out as THE only coach everyone wants back — the most memorable coach and ‘face’ of the show,” continues the outlet’s alleged tipster. It’s even said Stefani is “keeping her schedule open just in case Blake Shelton or something else[ sic] needs to take a season off.” Adds the tabloid’s snitch, “She would love nothing better than to take on Christina face-to-face on that show — and so would a lot of viewers too.”
It all sounds very dramatic. But despite the tabloid media’s penchant for pitting female stars against each other, there’s no real feud here. In fact, an impeccable source close to the series reveals to Gossip Cop that Aguilera actually “pushed to have Gwen to fill in, as they go way back.”
Notes our rock-solid insider, “They attend each other’s kids’ birthday parties, and even knew each other socially long before the show.” Gossip Cop is exclusively told that all the magazine’s allegations just “couldn’t be further from the truth.” Of course, as longtime readers know, “OK!” and “truth” rarely go together.
