5 Seconds of Summer appeared on Monday’s “Howard Stern Show,” where they performed their new song “She’s Kinda Hot,” and also got candid about their personal lives. Listen to the audio below!

There were many major revelations to emerge from Stern’s interview with the Australian pop-punk band. One tidbit to come out is that drummer Ashton Irwin is not currently dating model Bryana Holly, who was rumored (but never confirmed) to be his girlfriend. “I actually tried to have a relationship, and it just didn’t work out,” Irwin told Stern. “I’ve been away for six months. I was kind of seeing someone for about a year… I’d actually been with them for about two months out of that year.”

Meanwhile, lead vocalist Luke Hemmings admitted that he never graduated from high school. He told the radio host, “I did the first half of my last year of school on the road, but that was two years ago and I never did the last half, so I haven’t actually finished school.”

As far as the band’s music goes, guitarist Michael Clifford said that their song “She’s Kinda Hot,” from the new album Sounds Good Feels Good, was initially supposed to be a solo by Irwin. “‘She’s Kinda Hot’ was originally just Ashton singing the whole song,” Clifford said. “It was meant to be like the drummer song.”

In addition to “She’s Kinda Hot,” the group also performed a cover version of Green Day’s “American Idiot.” The four guys are big fans of Green Day, and Hemmings revealed, “We were gonna write with Billie [Joe Armstrong] for the album, but he was busy doing the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”

Gossip Cop will post 5 Seconds of Summer’s full interview on the “Howard Stern Show” as soon as it becomes available.
