'How to Get Away With Murder also falls to a same-day series low on ABC.
With a one-night break in Fox's ongoing coverage of the World Series, the final shared CBS-NFL Network telecast of Thursday Night Football this season easily won the night.
Prior to adjustments, which will find the telecast rise, the Dolphins-Patriots game scored an early 4.4 rating among adults 18-49 (up nearly 20 percent from last week) and 10.9 million viewers. Effective next week, Thursday games will again air exclusively on the NFL's cable outlet — with The Big Bang Theory and co. returning to the usual scripted CBS block.
ABC placed second for the night, but not without some losses. At 10 p.m., How to Get Away With Murder slipped three-tenths of a point to a series low in same-day showings, a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49. The network kicked off the night with another strong airing of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, which averaged a 1.7 rating in the key demo before a steady Scandal (2.3 adults).
A Bones-Sleepy Hollow crossover lifted Fox's typical Thursday showing. Though Bones was steady with a 1.3 rating in the key demo, Sleepy Hollow saw its half of the two-hour event lift its showing by three-tenths of a point to a 1.1 with adults 18-49.
That put NBC in fourth place for the night, with its lineup of Heroes Reborn (1.0 adults), The Blacklist (1.5 adults) and The Player (0.7 adults) all holding steady with the previous week.
On the CW, The Vampire Diaries (0.5 adults) and The Originals (0.4 adults) were both flat.
