The Weeknd pleaded no contest to punching a cop in Las Vegas on Wednesday. In exchange for the plea deal, stemming from an incident in January during which The Weeknd was involved in a fight at the Cromwell Hotel, the singer will get no jail time.

As Gossip Cop reported at the time, a full-on melee was taking place at the Las Vegas hotel when the police arrived on the scene. After one cop took The Weeknd onto an elevator in the midst of the fight, the singer punched the officer in the head. He was then arrested.

Under the terms of The Weeknd’s plea deal, he agreed to pay $1,000 to a police foundation, take anger management classes, and do 50 hours worth of community service. Once the singer completes all of that, and remains out of trouble, his case will be dismissed.

The Weeknd has made no note of his plea deal on social media. After his arrest in January, the singer similarly didn’t mention his legal troubles. Instead, he simply posted an Instagram photo of himself near a private jet, along with the caption, “Escaped from Las Vegas.”
