Raven-Symone is the subject of a Change.org petition that’s been signed by more than 100,000 people who want the “The View” co-host fired from the talk show. And a rep for the ABC show gave Gossip Cop an exclusive response to the controversy.

As Gossip Cop reported, Symone has gotten into hot water on several occasions in the past few months for expressing some unpopular opinions on the daytime show. Earlier this month, she had to apologize after admitting during the show’s “Hot Topics” segment that she was discriminatory against people with “ghetto” names. Most recently, Symone caught heat because she didn’t completely side with the Spring Valley High School student whose violent arrest by a police officer sparked a nationwide uproar.

The Change.org petition that seeks to remove Symone from the talk show argues that she’s been “spouting her ignorant and self hating spiel on ‘The View’ for long enough.” The letter also says, “The final straw was her comment about the recent viral video of the school police officer assaulting the student, where [Symone] said ‘get off your phone in school then.'” Finally, the petition insists that African-Americans “need strong black role models in prominent positions on television and Symone cannot provide that.”

Despite the large number of people who’ve signed the petition, Gossip Cop is assured by a rep for “The View” that Symone is not in any danger of losing her job. The show’s rep exclusively tells us, “We love Raven. She is confident, genuine and opinionated, all qualities that make her a great addition to the panel.”
