The Martian is leading a frightful Halloween weekend box office.
As Gossip Cop previously reported, the stranded-in-space epic starring Matt Damon returned to the top of the chart last weekend, after temporarily slipping out of first place. Early projections indicate it will now continue to hold on to the crown thanks to an eerily quiet movie weekend. In fact, it’ll take just $10.7 million for The Martian to be number one.
To place second, Goosebumps would need only $8.8 million. The Tom Hanks drama Bridge of Spies is likely to finish third at $7.6 million. It will probably be followed by Bradley Cooper’s Burnt, which is only cooking up a mere $5.1 million for its opening weekend.
Hotel Transylvania 2 is also tracking at $5.1 million, and could easily end up swapping fourth and fifth places. With $3.8 million, The Last Witch Hunter is looking at the number six spot. And Our Brand Is Crisis, starring Sandra Bullock, is also having a dreadful debut, eyeing just $3.1 million to land seventh.
Potentially rounding out the Top 10 would be Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension ($3. million), Crimson Peak ($2.8 million), and Steve Jobs ($2.6 million). All figures are currently estimates, and Gossip Cop will have updates. TELL US: Are you going to the movies Halloween weekend?
