Simon Cowell will be a judge on the next season of “America’s Got Talent,” it was announced on Thursday. Watch below!
Cowell tweeted, “The good news is ‘America’s Got Talent’ is back next year and the even better news is so am I!” Cowell is one of the co-creators of “America’s Got Talent,” but never appeared on the panel in the show’s 10 seasons. But Howard Stern said his farewell when the most recent season ended in September, as Gossip Cop reported, leaving a seat open at the table.
Cowell has been a staple of “Britain’s Got Talent,” but stayed behind-the-scenes as a producer on the American version. The move marks Cowell’s return to American television following three seasons of “The X Factor,” which ended in 2013. Cowell said on Thursday’s “Today” that he suggested himself for the gig, but that it ultimately NBC’s decision.
“I think the ‘America’s Got Talent’ show honestly is one of the best talent shows in the world,” said the controversial British personality. It’s unclear if he’ll be joined by veteran judges Howie Mandel, Mel B, and Heidi Klum. The show’s official Twitter account has already tweeted out multiple welcomes to Cowell, and changed its header to be a picture of him, but no mention has been made of the other panelists.
