'The Interview' scribe Dan Sterling will be the writing EP on 'Citizen Floyd,' which has received a put pilot order at the network.
Burgeoning TV producers Seth Rogen and Evan Golberg have sold their first network comedy. The filmmakers, who've already made TV inroads on the cable and streaming front, are working on a political comedy at Fox with their fellow The Interview scribe Dan Sterling.
Under his recent two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television, Sterling will write and executive produce Citizen Floyd — which has been given a put pilot order at the network. It's described as a single camera workplace comedy that combines political, action and suspense elements.
Rogen and Goldberg, under their Point Grey Pictures, will serve as non-writing EPs. Citizen Floyd follows the recent pilot order for comedy Future Man at Hulu and a series order for comic book drama Preacher at AMC. Sterling, in his first project with his collaborators since Interview, adds Citizen Floyd to his growing list of TV credits. Last year he sold a pilot to CBS with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, with whom he's since collaborated on Last Man on Earth.
Point Grey's James Weaver will also serve as executive producer.
Fox has been bullish on comedies this development season, also giving put pilot commitments to projects Straight Outta Calabasas, Lord and Miller's In Time and Ty Burrell-produced firefighter comedy Hosed.
Sterling, Rogen and Goldberg are all repped by UTA, with Sterling at Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern, LLP and Rogen and Goldberg with attorney Fred Toczek.
