A group of One Direction fans took out an ad in Billboard honoring the group. Check out the photo below!
Called “#TilTheEndFanProject,” the ad was the result of several months of fundraising. As explained on the project’s website, “This was just an idea back in May” from three “girls in our 20s from Brisbane, Australia.” PayPal and GoFundMe accounts were set up for fans worldwide to raise money for the ad, but it was admittedly “hard going.” The organizers say, “We ended up spending plenty of late nights coming up with how to raise money. We sold fairy floss at our nephew’s school fair. We started an Etsy store… anything we could. There were tears, tantrums and plenty of laughs.”
“We had some of the most passionate and amazing Directioners who supported and believed in the project as much as we did, and to each and every one of you THANK YOU,” continues the message. “It never would have happened without you! Being a 1D fan changes you and makes you believe you can do anything… And we did.” The cost? A whopping $5,000.
As for the ad itself, it appears in the current issue of Billboard with Elton John and Lady Gaga on the cover. The page reads “To One Direction” at the top and features four microphones filled with adjectives describing Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan. The additional text says, “Congratulations on the release of Made In The A.M. We’ll be here after the lights have dimmed and the screams have subsided. ‘An artist is nothing without fans and a fan is nothing without an artist.’ Thank you for being our everything!”
The page is signed, “Forever, Directioners Worldwide #TilTheEnd.” Not surprisingly, the guys were quite taken aback when they learned of the ad on Thursday. “This is amazing! Who organized this ad in Billboard? Thank you,” tweeted Louis Tomlinson.
Harry Styles also wrote, “To whoever is behind the page in @billboard magazine. Thank you. You have no idea how lovely you are. H.” Check out the ad below, and tell us what you think!
